On Wednesday 14th October, Meadlands held its first Super Learning Day. The day was themed around Mission: Co-operation, a day built around teamwork and the five essential skills for learning:
The children all worked in mixed age teams to collect gems. In order to collect gems each team had to work well together demonstrating teamwork and the five skills. Each team did very well! Everyone had a great time and the day was a huge success.
Whilst the groups were going around, our Press Packers made a video to document the day…
Also you can watch the video that started the day…

Year 5 have had a fun and busy start to the year. Miss Ana from Barcelona worked with our class first during her one month stay at Meadlands. We enjoyed learning about Gaudi and polished up our Spanish! It was great to meet Miss Ana’s teachers at the end of her stay with us too!
Year Six enjoyed their first Tag Rugby session this afternoon. William from London Scottish Rugby Club came along to lead a training session.

After a quick warm up game, Year Six quickly got organised in to teams and played a (very) mini tournament. We’re looking forward to our next Tag Rugby session next week.

Year Six were in full swing with their science today when we were looking at the different parts of the flower.
We started off by comparing two flowers: the lily and the passion flower. We then went on to find the stamen, stigma and other key parts of the flower and discussed their functions.

Once we were confident we knew the different parts we started to seperate the bits out to stick in our books.

Nina has stuck in and labelled the parts correctly, do you know what each part does? Post a comment saying what the funtion of each part is – there’s a house point for each FIRST correct asnwer! (Don’t forget to put your name beside the comment so we know who you are!)

Well done Ecostars! We have had another busy term looking for minibeasts, making natural mobiles, planting tomatoes and growing, cooking and eating our own potatoes! We couldn’t believe our eyes when we dug up the potatoes we had been growing since the Spring term. There we so many! Enough to make a tasty potato salad and some mash. Yum! Don’t forget to sign up again in September!
Today was our leavers assembly and the year sixes did an amazing job!
